Timothy Avery
Timothy took voluntary retirement from The Canadian Press this spring after 27 years as a reporter and editor for the news service. Prior to joining CP, he worked as a reporter and editor for a number of Ontario newspapers. He’s been involved for the last ten years in living history with the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada, portraying Canadian militia during the War of 1812 at historic sites and events across Ontario and in parts of the US (www.imuc.org). As well, he’s worked as an extra in historical TV and film productions, most recently portraying a Toronto city councillor in Summer of Sorrow, which aired on History Television in March 2009. Timothy is interested in part-time work as a teacher, and researcher and also wants to get involved with union work and organizing with union retirees.
